Frida Kahlo: Approaches and perspectives of interpretation

(EN) This bachelor thesis aims to research and methodologically analyse work and figure of Frida Kahlo and also introduce chosen social-geographic approaches, which influenced viewing of Frida as a woman-artist, feminist, activist-socialist and a painter of latin origin. Part of this thesis is also concept of identity of the artist, on the basis of which the thesis further develops the topic of key life events. These topics thesis demonstrates by selection of expert essays, where is possible to more specifically introduce public and professional reception of her work and legacy as well. Thesis further develops the topic of legacy and approaches to it by analyzing crucial publications that have had a social impact in the general public. Thesis also portrays Frida as a representative of the artist-icon, that defines through inclusion in the contemporary pop culture. This bachelor thesis thus attempts to introduce the personality of Frida through the reflection of her work and at the same time to deal with attitudes determining her importantce in the fine arts of the 20th and 21st centuries.
